Ted C. Dodge

Ted C. Spud Dodge, age 80, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Lancaster Care Center. He was born on May 22, 1932, in South Lancaster Township, the son of Ted and Cecelia (Nehls) Dodge. On July 14, 1951, Ted was united in marriage to Evelyn Ruchti and remained married for fifty-nine years until Evelyn passed away on November 21, 2010. Ted was employed at John Deere for nearly thirty years and was a member of UAW Local No. 94. His favorite things were driving his van around town, winning at cribbage and cards, bird and squirrel watching, working with his hands, berry picking, and going for coffee.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca (Larry) Wise, Highland, IL; his sons: Rick (Kathy) Dodge, Port Huron, MI: David (Susan) dodge, Bloomfield Hills, MI; and Jeff (Heidi) Dodge of Tampa, FL; sisters: Carol Strokosch and Charlotte Ruchti; grandchildren: David Wise, Amy Jones, Samantha Dodge, Danny Dodge, Lee Turner-Dodge, Brittany, Ian and Nicole Dodge.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, his son, Danny in infancy, and a sister, Jenny Hirsch.

Grave side services were held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster with Rev. Larry Wise officiating. Family and friends called on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster.

Laverne "Shot" Doll

Mr. Laverne Shot Doll, a longtime Lancaster businessman and community leader, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Orchard Manor in Lancaster. He was born in Mt Hope, Wisconsin on July 5, 1929 to Willis and Glennie (McCluskey) Doll. On October 3, 1953, he married Jeanne Pink at St Clements Catholic Church in Lancaster.

He served in the Korean Conflict as an armored tank commander and was discharged with the rank of Sgt 1st Class. He was a lifetime member of the Wm Pollock VFW Post 2344 and former Quartermaster for 10 years. He was a continuous member of the American Legion Post 109.

He completed auto body training and became a General Motors Certified Body Mechanic. In 1961, Shot founded Lancaster Auto Body Shop in a partnership with Joe & Janice Turner. After 14 years in auto body, he sold to Maurice Thole, and established Coast to Coast, which later became Doll Hardware. The hardware store was in business for 27 years.

He served on the Lancaster Fire Department for 28 years and the Lancaster Rescue Squad for 19 years.

Shot is survived by his wife, Jeanne of 57 years; three children, Bob (Bev) Doll of Lancaster, John (Deneen) Doll of Lancaster, and Mary (Marty) Mumm of Cassville; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great step-grandchild; and a sister, Nancy (Roger) Leibfried of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and a brother, Lloyd.

A memorial mass was held at 11 am on Friday, June 24, 2011, at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, with Father William Seipp officiating. Burial with Military Honors was in Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster. Visitation was from 5 to 8 pm on Thursday, June 23, at St. Clement Catholic Church, and one hour prior to the mass on Friday. Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster is serving his family.

A Laverne Doll Memorial has been established.

Earl Donaldson

Earl L. Donaldson, age 90, of Beetown, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013. He was born on June 18, 1923, the son of Lester and Armel (Halstead) Donaldson. Earl enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. On June 8, 1944, he was united in marriage to Pauline Thorpe. Earl was from a family of carpenters that could do everything from plumbing, building, to laying brick. He was instrumental in working for the state of Wisconsin helping build Stonefield Historic Site in Cassville. Earl was a member of the Beetown United Methodist Church and Taylor Thorpe American Legion Post No. 551. He was proud that with the help of his father and brothers to have built their family home that they resided in their entire lives.

Survivors include his children: Etta (Forest) Slaght; Dick (Marsha) Donaldson; grandchildren: Jennifer (David) Murphy; Lisa (Matt) Millin; Jenny (John) McCartney; Joe Hendricks; Breanna Donaldson; great-grandchildren: Paige, Ian, Holden Murphy; Nathan, Olivia, Cooper Millin; Braden, Payson McCartney; Davin Noethe; Max Hendricks; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline in 2007; sisters: Evelyn Donaldson, Pearl Adrian; brothers, Reggie, Harold, Francis, and Paul Donaldson.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Beetown United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was at Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Robert Draves

Robert K. Draves, age 86, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. He was born on April 12, 1930, in Boscobel, the son of August and Hazel Draves. Bob worked as a mechanic technician at Skyline Manufactured Homes out of Lancaster and eight years for the Grant County Sheriff's Department. He lived in Fennimore until he married Eileen Potter Janssen on July 24, 1963, when they moved to Lancaster. Bob's interest included bowling, Pro Motorcycle Hill Climbers, and woodworking. He belonged to the Masonic Blue Lodge in Fennimore. He was a 33^rd Degree Mason.

Survivors include his step-children: Alonna (Phil) Pointon, Baraboo; Patti (Curtis) Busby, Oklahoma City, OK; Rodger Janssen, Lancaster; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren as well as cousins.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Eileen, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters: Jean Henkle and Dorothy Carter.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 1234 S Madison Street, Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Prairie Cemetery, Fennimore. Family and friends called on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Alfred A. Dressler

Alfred August Dressler, 89, of Potosi, died Monday, September 14, at Southwest Health Center, Platteville.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Davies Memorial United Church of Christ in Potosi with Teri A. Hanson officiating. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home, Potosi. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Berg Avercamp VFW Post #5276 and the American Legion Post #473, both of Potosi were held in Hurricane Cemetery, South Lancaster Township.

He was born on October 14, 1919, in Grant County, the son of William F. and Isabelle (Koeller) Dressler. He married Charlotte M. Yoose on November 11, 1950.

Alfred is survived by his wife, Charlotte; brother, Richard (Marilynn) Dressler ; son-in-law, William Durley; and brother-in-law, Ivan Yoose, all of Potosi; four grandchildren: Kathy (Dennis) Freiheit, Dallas, Texas, Cheryl (Eric Forsberg) Duvall, Hanover Park, Illinois, Randal (Terry) Durley, Leeds, Alabama, and Debby (Joseph Spillane) Durley, Cuba City; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Durley; brother, Bernard (Dolores) Dressler; and sister, Marie (Joseph) Sedbrook. For many years Alfie was known to area residents as the Skelly Oil delivery man for Kowalski Kieler, Dickeyville. He also was a rural mail carrier and school bus driver, and later served as head custodian for the Potosi Schools. A veteran of World War II, Alfred enjoyed woodworking, Euchre, and owned many fine automobiles. He is best remembered for his unwavering smile, cheery personality, and generous spirit.

Catherine Dressler

Charlotte May Dressler, age 91, of 100 White Street, Potosi, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at Orchard Manor, Lancaster, Wisconsin. She was born July 11, 1920, to Andrew and Cora (Loetscher) Yoose, in South Lancaster Township. A 1937 graduate of Lancaster High School, she received a rural teaching certificate from Platteville State Teachers College in 1941, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 1964. Charlotte taught in area schools for over 40 years, retiring in 1989.

Preceding her in death were her husband of nearly 60 years, Alfred Dressler, daughter Patricia (Knapp) Durley, sisters: Elizabeth Cass and Linda Slaght, and brothers Harold and Calvin Yoose.

She is survived by a brother, Ivan Yoose, son-in-law, William Durley, and grandchildren Kathy (Dennis) Freiheit, Cheryl (Eric) Forsberg, Randal (Terry) Durley, and Debra (Scott Busch) Durley, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Davies Memorial Untied Church of Christ in Potosi with Pastor Petra Streiff officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Eunice H. Dressler

Eunice H. Dressler, age 77, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, September 5, 2009, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville. She was born on June 2, 1932, in rural Fennimore, the daughter of Paul and Carol (Cohen) Hollenberger. She graduated from Fennimore High School in 1950. On September 18, 1952, Eunice was united in marriage to Richard Dressler at St. Lawrence OToole Catholic Church in Mt. Hope. She enjoyed babysitting and raising her children. Eunice liked to crochet and sew and often made her own clothing. She dearly loved being a grandmother.

Survivors include her children: Robert (Marilyn) Dressler, Lancaster; Thomas Dressler, Muscoda; four grandchildren: Rachel, Aaron, Brian and Mary Dressler; her brothers and sisters: Irma Atkinson, Lancaster; Adeline Atkinson, Bagley; Vivian (Joe) Moore, Lancaster; John (Jeanette) Hollenberger, Fennimore; Doug (Colleen) Hollenberger, Beloit; Elaine Hollenberger, Lancaster; Alan (Wendy) Hollenberger, Beloit; many cousins, nieces and nephews; a special niece, Heather Novinskie.

In addition to her parents, Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her brother and sisters: Willard, Charlotte Landon, Pauline, a nephew, Brent Hollenberger and brother-in-laws, Grant Atkinson and Leo Atkinson.

Joseph A. Droessler

Joseph A. Droessler, age 55, of Potosi, died on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Potosi. He was born on August 25, 1955 in Lancaster, the son of Joseph and Henrietta (Dresen) Droessler. Joe graduated from Potosi High School in 1973. He married Luann M. Schaefer on May 15, 1976 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Tennyson. Joe was employed at John Deere in Dubuque for over thirty two years, retiring in 2005. He loved spending time with his family and was known for his strong Christian faith. Joe enjoyed being outdoors and helping others. He taught hunter safety courses for many years.

Surviving; his wife, Luann, Potosi; a son, Josh (Sarah) Droessler, Dickeyville; a daughter Kylie (Ben) Burns, LaCrosse; two brothers, Tom (Mary) Droessler, and Andy (Dawn) Droessler; two sisters, Mary (Pat) Hawes, and Angie (Steve) Vogelsberg, all of Potosi, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Henrietta Droessler.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 10:30am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson with Fr. Richard Leffler officiating. Burial was in the St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends called on Sunday, December 5, 2010 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Monday, December 6, 2010 from 9:30 am until time of services at the church. Ruth M. Droessler

Ruth M. Droessler, age 78, of Lancaster, died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on August 17, 1934, in Lancaster, the daughter of Raymond and Wilma (Heinrichs) Ertz. Ruth graduated from Lancaster High School. She then moved to Madison for a short time. Upon returning to Lancaster, Ruth was employed with Thorpe Finance as a bookkeeper. She was later employed with Grant Community Clinic as a bookkeeper until her retirement. Ruth was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and its church circle, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Grant Regional Health Center Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the nursing home. Ruth dearly loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her Tuesday outings with her friends and socializing. Ruth collected bird houses, butterflies, and angels. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children: Toni (Vicki) Bast, Lodi; Lisa (Dean) Bryan, Marshfield; Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas (Darlene) Bast, deployed in Afghanistan; seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn (fianc Brandon Chiero) Bast, Jordan and Megan Bast; Bridget and Natalie Nolden; Meg Bryan and Joshua (Molly) Bast; great-grandson, Konnor; her sisters: Patricia Broihahn, Lancaster; Marjorie (Joseph) Murphy, Beaver Dam; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Carson Henry Jack Bast and Joseph Droessler; her siblings: Mary Jane Ertz, Phyllis McClain, Jeanette Walsh and Jerry Ertz.

Mary Droullard

Mary "Betty" Elizabeth Droullard, age 90, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Manor Care Health Services in Platteville. Mary was born on June 1, 1925 in Newburyport, MA, to Otis & Mary (O'Connor) Burrell.

Mary worked for a factory during World War II for the war effort. Mary's brother Norman, who served during the war, introduced her to his best friend, Francis A. Droullard. After the war, on November 17, 1945, she married Francis in Amesbury, MA. They moved to Francis' hometown of Lancaster in 1946. They built a house at 1049 West Cherry Street and had four children they raised together. Mary lived in Lancaster until 2013 when she moved to Manor Care in Platteville.

Mary loved spending time with all of her children & grandchildren, and enjoyed playing bingo, euchre, gardening, and baking.

Mary is survived by her son, Bruce (Donna) Droullard, Readfield, ME; her daughters, Susan (Bob) McLimans, Napoleon, OH, Nancy (Bill) Gozsinski, Waukesha, and Kathy Key, Platteville; a brother, Norman Burrell, Amesbury, MA; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis in 2006; her parents; a grandson, Rob McLimans; two brothers, William and Donald Burrell; and a son-in-law, Jack Key, Jr.

Funeral Services were held at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, with Pastor Christopher Droullard officiating. Friends called one hour prior to the service. Stanley F. "Stosh" Du Charme

Stanley F. Stosh Du Charme, age 65, of Bloomington, died on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at his home in Bloomington. He was born on October 11, 1944, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Walter and Martha (Mara) Du Charme. On March 25, 1975, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Gotto in Wyoming. After their marriage, Stosh was employed at Miniature Precision Components, Inc. in Prairie du Chien for over eighteen years as a production operator. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and horses.

In addition to his parents, Stosh was preceded in death by his brother, David Du Charme and his father-in-law, Francis Gotto.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Du Charme, Bloomington; his daughter, Tina (Jeramie) Anderson, Prairie du Chien; two grandchildren: Micheal Froehlich and Tyler Anderson; his brothers and sisters: Beverly Ann (Dale) Check, Eastman; Walter Dewey (Billie Lou) Du Charme, Bagley; Bernadean Bunny (Rodney) Bartholomew, Juneau; Yvonne (Bill) Hubbard, Prairie du Chien; Jon Du Charme, Eastman; Steve Du Charme, Eastman; Marcia Feilbach, Marquette, IA; Michael (Trina) Du Charme; Eastman; Jenny Russell, McGregor, IA; his mother-in-law, Naomi Gotto, Bloomington; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, October 19, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington with Father Bart Timmerman officiating. Private family burial was at a later date. Friends called on Sunday, October 18, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home. Frank Dull, Jr.

Frank E. Dull, Jr., age 81, of rural Potosi, formerly of Platteville, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque. He was born on August 12, 1928 in Platteville, the son of Frank Sr. and Mabel (Karrmann) Dull. He graduated from Platteville High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1951-52. After Frank was discharged, he worked at John Deere for a couple of years before working at Sieg Auto Parts in Dubuque and Prairie du Chien until retiring in 1990.

Frank liked to hunt and fish, tend to his garden, enjoyed the outdoors and attending auctions.

Frank is survived by his companion and friend of over 50 years, Leila Maring, Potosi; his sister-in-law, Ruth Dull, Platteville; five nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Platteville with Reverend Michael Short officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Platteville VFW Post #5274 was held in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Family and friends were welcome from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church.

Darrel Duncan

Darrel James Duncan, age 96, of Lancaster, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. He was born in Iberia, Missouri, on November 11, 1918, the son of Lloyd Bing and Maud (Franklin) Duncan. At the time of his birth, Maud was living in Missouri near her parents while Bing was in the armed forces in Germany during WW I.

Darrel attended school at Beetown and at Bloomington High School through grade nine. Due to his fathers poor health from mustard gas poisoning in WW I, Darrel quit school to help his father on the family farm near Beetown. Darrel was an excellent baseball pitcher and hired out to exhibition games. He also worked for various farmers and construction companies in the Beetown area until he was drafted into the US Army on March 9, 1942, during WW II. Darrel was an excellent marksman and fought in the European theater. He landed on Omaha Beach and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge for which he received two Purple Hearts and a Presidential Citation. He served in WW II until the war ended.

The most important day of Darrels life was February 14, 1949, when he received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He had been burdened about his sins and thought he could never be saved because he was such a bad sinner. Through Exodus 13:13, he understood that the Lord Jesus Christ was his substitute and died for his sins.

In 1946, Darrel married Marjorie Okey and she passed away in 1962. To this union was born one daughter, Deborah Duncan Carter, who passed away in 2010. On Nov. 3, 1962, Darrel married Helen Yost and she passed away in 2011. Darrel was given to hospitality and was gifted at Bible preaching. He gathered unto the Lords Name at the Beetown Gospel Hall.

Flowers and landscaping was Darrels favorite occupation. He took a six-week course at the Chicago Floral School of Design in 1947. Over the years he owned and operated floral shops in Fennimore, Lancaster, Prairie du Chien, Madison, and Albuquerque, NM and taught floral design classes. In 1983, he and Helen retired at Cassville, WI, where his yard was a floral masterpiece. They lived there until failing health took them to Lancaster in 2008. Darrel resided at Sunrise Apartments and for two weeks at Orchard Manor Nursing Home until his death.

Darrel is survived by three grandchildren: Chris, Brandie, and Shauntay, and two step-grandchildren: Yolanda and Amy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Marjorie and Helen; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and John Carter; and brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mavis Duncan.

Gerald J. Duncan

Gerald J. Duncan, age 79, of Bloomington, died on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at his home in Bloomington. He was born on January 15, 1930, in Glen Haven, the son of James and Leila (Esser) Duncan. Gerald served his country in the United States Army. On June 16, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joanne A. Shaben at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. After their marriage, Gerald drove freight truck for Bud Shaben. In 1959, Gerald and Joanne began farming with Geralds parents in Beetown Township. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed cutting wood, hunting Ginseng, and fishing. Gerald was a member of the Thorpe-Taylor American Legion Post No. 551 of Beetown.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Duncan, Bloomington; his children: LuAnne (Ken) Esser, Prairie du Chien; Tim Duncan, Bagley; four grandchildren: Patrick (Lori) Esser, Eau Claire; Krystal (Christopher) Matt, Onalaska; April (Joe) Delagrave, Phoenix, AZ; Jesse Richards, Potosi; a great-grandson, Cameron Esser; a brother, Gene (Linda) Duncan, New York; and a former sister-in-law, Kay Duncan, New York.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.

Helen M. Duncan

Helen Marie (Yost) Duncan, age 91, of Lancaster, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at the Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. She was born on April 14, 1919, in Butler County, Iowa, the daughter of Chauncey Sr. and Anna (Christopherson) Yost.

Following graduation from Aerdale, Iowa High School in 1937, she attended Normal Teachers College and taught country school for one year. She moved to Wisconsin in the 1940s and worked at the Badger Ordinance Plant. After 35 years with Bell Telephone Company, she retired in 1983.

The most important day of Helens life was on September 6, 1937, at LaCrosse, WI Bible Conference. She had been burdened for a long time about her sins and that she would be left behind at the Lords coming. Mr. Samuel Hamilton was talking with her and reading scriptures. While reading John 6:8, He that believeth in me hath everlasting life, she understood that Christ died for her sins and got peace in her soul. She was saved.

On November 3, 1962, Helen married Darrel Duncan in Madison. Together they operated various floral shops; first in Madison and then for ten years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1983, they retired to Cassville, and lived there until failing health took them to Lancaster in 2008. Helen resided at the Lancaster Care Center until her death.

Helen was a very kind, loving, generous person, always thinking of others. She and Darrel were given to hospitality and entertained many Christian friends. They gathered unto the Lords Name at the Beetown Gospel Hall.

Helen is survived by her husband, Darrel Duncan, Lancaster; five step-grandchildren: Chris, Yalanda, Amy, Brandie, and Shauntay; one sister, Pearl Conant, Tipton, IA; one brother, Chauncey (Sandra) Yost, Jr., Middleton.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Deborah Carter and her husband John in 2010, and two sisters, Wava Steiner and Carol Jean Johnson.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Allen Christopherson and Eric McCullough officiating. Burial was be in Beetown Cemetery, Beetown. Jack S. Duncan

Jack S. Duncan, age 90, formerly of Beetown, passed away onTuesday, February 15, 2011at the Lancaster Care Center, after an extended illness. Jack was born in Beetown on March 9, 1920, the son of Lloyd Bing and Maude (Frankland) Duncan. Jack was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather and cherished the time spent with his family.Jackand the former Mavis Cardey of Potosi were married in Dubuque, IA onJune 10, 1940, celebratingtheir 70th anniversary in 2010. Jack was a hard working farmer on theirdairy farm near Beetown, and loved working the land, along with Mavis. Jack wasa lover of nature and anavid outdoorsmanin every sense of theword. He was happiest while in the woods with his bow and arrows huntingdeer, turkey and bear;digging ginseng;running a trap line; fishing or pickinguparrowheads in his freshly plowed fields. He enjoyed listening to country music and singing, andpassed his naturalsinging talent onto his children. He also was an avid baseball fan, following theMilwaukee Braves and Brewers; a love he shared with grandson, Jason.

Jackis survived by his wife, Mavis of Lancaster;son Doug (Donna) Duncan of Cuba City;daughter, Yvonne (Patrick) McIntyre ofDodgeville; Grandchildren, Lisa (Denny) Miller of Verona; Jason (Jenna) Palzkill of Rochester, MN; brother, Darrel Duncan of Lancaster; an aunt, Virginia Weigel of Naples, FL;great-grandchildren: Emma and Jacob Miller; step-grandchildren:Ted Shuler of Dickeyville;Roni Kauffmanof Lancaster; Kim (Cal) Bunders of Woodman; Daniel (Carol) Girtonof Bullhead City, AZ; Debbie (Ron)Mootz of Branson, MO;step great-grandchildren: Doug (Courtney) Kauffman;Jessie,Ben, andJakeKauffman;andseveralstep great-great grandchildren,and otherrelatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law: Retha (Charles) Klarman, Helen Duncan, and brother-in-law, George Cardey.

Jack will bemissed by his loving family,but his sense ofhumor and love of life and music will fill our hearts forever.

Joanne Ducan

Joanne Anna "Sis" Duncan, age 82, of Cassville, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017, at Prairie Maison Nursing Home in Prairie du Chien. She was born on November 3, 1934, in Cassville, the daughter of Clifford and Agnes (Brinkman) Shaben. Sis married Gerald Duncan on June 16, 1953. They raised two children, LuAnne and Tim.

Survivors include her children: LuAnne (Ken) Esser, Holmen; Tim Duncan, Bagley; grandchildren: Patrick (Lori) Esser, Eau Claire; Krystal (Christopher) Matt, Holmen; April (Joe) Delagrave, Gilbert, AZ; Jesse (Tonya Abing) Richards, Cassville; great-grandchildren: Cameron, Olivia, Barrett, Braxton, Brayden, Brynley, and Cailee; her siblings: Rose (John) Schnorrenberg; Gloria (Bob) Hudson; Leah Mae "Ahmmie" Esser; Lila (Julius "Jupe") Hochhausen; Judy (Dennis) Laufenberg; Lonnie (Helen) Shaben; sisters-in-law: Marlene Shaben and Kay Duncan; brother-in-law, Gene (Linda) Duncan; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her brothers: John and LeRoy; her sister, Jean (Vincent) Vondrum and brother-in-law, Lester Esser.

Funeral services were on Friday, February 17, 20147, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory, 313 Fredrick, Cassville, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Mavis M. Duncan

Mavis M. Duncan, age 91, formerly of Beetown, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the Lancaster Care Center due to complications of Alzheimer's. She was born on October 7, 1921, in Cassville, the daughter of Will and Jennie (Burrows) Cardey. She graduated from Potosi High School in 1940, and that same year, on June 10, married the love of her life, Jack Duncan. They farmed in the Beetown area their entire lives; and in 2010 celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Mavis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and devoted her life to farming alongside Jack and raising their children, Doug and Yvonne. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking and cooking, and being a homemaker. Mavis was musically talented, playing the piano and guitar "by ear" and loved singing with her family. Everyone who stopped by the Duncan home was welcomed with an invitation to stay for supper or at least share a cup of coffee and a piece of homemade pie. She will be missed by her loving family.

Survivors include a son, Doug (Donna) Duncan of Cuba City; daughter, Yvonne (Patrick) McIntyre of Dodgeville; Grandchildren, Lisa (Denny) Miller of Verona; Jason (Jenna) Palzkill of Oregon, WI; brother-in-law, Darrel Duncan of Lancaster; great-grandchildren: Emma Miller, Jacob Miller and Cullen Palzkill; step-grandchildren: Ted Shuler of Dickeyville; Roni Kauffman of Lancaster; Kim (Cal) Bunders of Woodman; Daniel (Carol) Girton of Bullhead City, AZ; Debbie (Ron) Mootz of Branson, MO; step great-grandchildren: Doug (Courtney) Kauffman; Jessie, Ben (Natalia), and Jake Kauffman; and several step great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Jack, Mavis was preceded in death by: sister, Retha Klarman; brother, George Cardey; brother-in-law, Charles Klarman and sister-in-law, Helen Duncan.

Rose Duncan

Rose Ann Duncan, age 54, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at her home. She was born on October 4, 1962, the daughter of Roger and Mary Ann (Mislivecek) Chase. Rose graduated from Lancaster High School in 1981 and from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1985. On October 3, 1987, Rose was united in marriage to Gary L. Duncan at the Lancaster United Methodist Church. She was employed at the Farm Service Agency in Lancaster for more than 30 years. Rose was a member and organist at the Beetown United Methodist Church. She dearly loved her family and devoted her time to their activities as they were very active in sports and music.

Survivors include her husband Gary; their children: Chase, Andrea, and Shaina Duncan; her father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Lillian "Bid" Duncan and their family; a sister, Angie (Jeff) Finney; a brother, Jeff (Jennifer) Chase; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and members of the Chase family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Mary Ann Chase.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Reverend Jean Schmidt, Reverend Barbara Cook, and Reverend Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Monday, December 19, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Rose Ann Duncan Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.

Walter "Bud" F. Durley

Walter "Bud" F. Durley, age 60, of rural Potosi, passed away from natural causes on March 12, 2010 at his home. He was born on September 29, 1949, in Lancaster, the son of Walter A. and Mabel L. (Fritz) Durley. Bud was a graduate of Potosi High School and of the National Radio Institute in Chicago, IL. He was a former employee of the Cassville Police Department, Grant County Sheriffs Department and was also self-employed for many years. Bud loved tinkering on his two old trucks as well as talking on his amateur radio. He was very proud and had a great love for his two daughters, Ann and Dolly and also his canine buddy, Cooper. Bud was looking forward to walking Dolly down the aisle at her upcoming summer wedding.

Bud is survived by his two daughters: Ann Durley, Winona, MN and Dolores Dolly (fianc Drew Steinquist), LaCrosse; his sister, Mary Devins, Janesville; three brothers: William and Robert (Mary) Durley, Potosi and Benjamin (Joanne) Durley, Dubuque, IA; numerous other relatives; special friends, LaVern Lolwing, Alvin Bontreger and Russ Wolfe and his beloved canine, Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mabel Durley; his grandparents, RH and Josephine Durley and Helmut and Mary Fritz; a sister-in-law, Patricia Durley.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi Township. Family and friends called on Saturday, March 27, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Potosi. Memorials may be made to Walter F. Bud Durley Memorial Fund.

Robert L. Durns

Robert L. Smokie Durns, age 61, of Glen Haven, died on Monday, January 19, 2009, at his home in Glen Haven. He was born on December 26, 1947, in Pueblo, CO, the son of John H. and Viola (McGee) Durns. He enlisted in the United States Army in July 5, 1966 and served his country during the Vietnam War with the 25^th Infantry. Robert was honorably discharged on November 12, 1969. Following his discharge, Robert was employed as a truck driver. On April, 7, 1996, he was united in marriage to Aggie Gerlach in Tucson, AZ. After their marriage, the couple traveled and resided in Minnesota. The couple moved to Glen Haven in 2004. Robert enjoyed motorcycles and watching crime shows and sci-fi movies. He was a free spirit and was very proud of his children.

Survivors include his wife, Aggie of Glen Haven; his children: Tiara and Shane Durns, at home in Glen Haven; Carissa Hanson, Eau Claire; Travis David, Menomonie, Jared David, United Sates Navy, Jacksonville, FL; two brothers: Ron (Joyce) Durns, Mesa, AZ; Larry Durns, Sterling, CO; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were on Friday, January 23, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington with Rev. Mary Ann Floerke officiating. Burial with military honors was in Dodge Cemetery, Beetown Township. Friends called on Thursday, January 22, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Bloomington. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday.
